Feed Your Pets
I guess that canabalism may just be the word of the moment. There were a few weeks, including all of December, where things became ordered around here, where things could be found, and where things were easy enough to get done. We had two goldfish then, well my youngest siblings both had one each, but in their absence I figured that feeding them and refilling their tank was a worthwhile price to pay for the brief sense of order. There’s a scene in The Simpsons, where the characters walk through to the kitchen, it’s sparkeling clean when they walk in, but a couple of seconds later the door swings open again to briefly allow a glimpse of something close to a biohazard. It feels like that’s what happened here. Except that, alongside leaving crap everywhere and crowding me in, it seems that no one decided to put any food in the fishtank. I don’t know, I guess I figured that once everyone was back these things would cease to be me responsibility anymore. Well, the result on nobody putting a pinch of food in the tank (perhaps helped by the rapid massive build-up of junk on the tanks bench) seems to have been one fish eating the other. Basic survival I guess, but if nothing else I’d think that my siblings would be capable of feeding their goldfish!

So noticing a fish head with a small amount of attached spine in the fish tank wasn’t exactly the highlight of my past couple of weeks. There has been nothing major really, just moments of amusement here and there. Things like being reminded of the Nintendo DS’s advertising slogan ‘Touching is good’ on Valentines Day. Other things like catching up with Jeremy for the first time in ages the day after Valentines day and being told that his girlfriend recently turned fiancé weren’t and buggered off to Woolengong on Hallmark’s favourite day of the year. It would seem I got a lot of basic amusement out of that day, actually.
Catching up with Jeremy was cool, although that day will likely become known as the coffee sampling day. This man doesn’t buy things like furnature, CD’s and Movies, he buys all varieties of fresh ground coffee and really expensive juice machines. Good coffee I might add, and good juice too, but it feels almost like a whole other world to me. A big possative was that he gave me a sample disc with various work in progress tracks, all of which I was welcome to use on Dream and these represent the most workable pieces I’ve received from anyone thus far. They’ve also got me writing again, as I’d like to turn a couple of the tracks into theme songs for the main two characters and I’ve always wanted to try my hand at lyrics. I don’t know if these tracks will get used, but it’d be cool to have an image song or two, even just as a DVD extra.

I saw Sideways yesterday with Andrew, and we saved our money thanks to a rare example of the kindness of strangers. It was lucky timing really, as there were no sessions to interest us for over an hour after Andrew’s train came in late, but we decided to buy our ticket before bumming around the place anyway. So we stand behind the people being served and some random guy walks up behind us, asks if we’re lining up to buy movie tickets, and then gives up a pair of tickets for Saw saying that he didn’t have time to catch the session. We both just stood there slightly speechless before going to the counter and changing the tickets for something we wanted to see. The movie was really great, also, which was a bonus as I had to sacrifice seeing House of Flying Daggers to suit the mood of my company.

I find it a little worrying that this has been somethng that has stuck in the back of my mind, probably for several years now.

I guess I'd say that it's borderline, sort of half-way there. Whatever the case I can more than understand the spit mentality.
